A second-half Jermain Defoe-inspired blitz has led Tottenham to a 9-1 thrashing of Wigan in English football's Premier League.

Defoe's scored five of Tottenham's eight second-half goals to move Spurs up to fourth on the league ladder.

Elsewhere, Blackburn's broken their road duck with a two-nil win over Bolton and Stoke City's downed bottom of the table Portsmouth one-nil.
