Fans plan to fight for a refund

23/11/2009 6:36:01

The promoter of country singer Glen Campbell's New Zealand tour has gone to ground as angry concert-goers say they will fight for a refund.

Last night's Wellington concert was cancelled, after a scratchy performance in Rotorua the night before. The singer was struggling with laryngitis.

Te Puke man Kevin Hearle went to the Rotorua concert and says Campbell could barely sing. He was surprised the country star was made to go out on stage.

"At the end of the first piece he did, he was given a lozenge. We stayed for the next number which was worse than the first, so we left."

Mr Hearle says when he complained he was told by a representative of the promoter that they could not promise he would get his money back.

Promoter Andrew McManus Presents has not returned calls on the issue.
