New Zealand has taken its cycling gold medal tally to four at the UCI World Cup in Melbourne, winning the 40 kilometre men's madison and the women's team pursuit.

Tom Scully and Marc Ryan dominated the madison while the women's team pursuit of Kaytee Boyd, Lauren Ellis and Alison Shanks defeated England by over a second.

BikeNZ high performance manager Mark Elliott says the women's squad is developing nicely towards the World Championships in Copenhagen.

As well as the four golds, two silvers and one bronze medal from the event, the team has also qualified in a number of disciplines for next year?s world championships.
