Championship leader Jamie Whincup has won race one of the penultimate V8 Supercar round at Barbagallo Raceway in Perth.

The Triple Eight Racing driver has won in commanding fashion ahead of Holden's Todd Kelly and Ford's Mark Winterbottom.

Whincup has extended his series lead over Will Davison to 161 points after Davison finished back in fifth.

Greg Murphy has finished the best of the New Zealand drivers in eighth, with fellow kiwi Fabian Coulthard 13th.
