Saoirse Ronan in The Lovely Bones

Wellington will host the New Zealand premiere of Peter Jackson's latest move, The Lovely Bones.

It will be held at the Embassy Theatre on Monday December 14.

Among the film's stars set to attend are Saoirse Ronan and Susan Sarandon, along with young New Zealand actresses Rose McIver and Carolyn Dando - and the filmmaker.

Fans will have the opportunity to collect autographs on the red carpet.

The Lovely Bones will be released for general viewing on Boxing Day.

The adaptation of the bestseller by Alice Sebold is one of the most highly anticipated films of the year and has already sparked considerable Oscar buzz.

Along with Sarandon and Ronan, it stars Mark Wahlberg, Rachel Weisz, Stanley Tucci and Michael Imperioli.
