Hornets coach dumped

New Orleans Hornets head coach Byron Scott has been sacked just nine games into the NBA season.

Scott was named the NBA's coach of the year in 2008, but the team has a three win, six loss record this season.

He has been replaced by general manager Jeff Bower.

Scott brought former Tall Blacks centre Sean Marks to the Hornets. It is unclear what the coaching move means for the 10-year NBA veteran.
