Pilot beats engine problems

08/11/2009 17:16:04

More details have emerged about the moments leading up to a light plane crash this afternoon in Auckland. The plane went down into the field at Macleans Reserve in Pakuranga, just before 3pm.

Inspector Chris Robinson says the pilot was flying from Taupo, heading towards North Shore City. He says the pilot developed engine problems when he was near Eastern Beach, so decided to make an emergency landing.

Inspector Robinson says the only damage to the plane was a bent propeller, and the pilot walked away unharmed.
