Auckland's ASB Classic is set to announce its first signing for January's tournament.

The player is believed to be ranked between 15 and 25 in the world and could potentially be this year's runner-up Elena Vesnina or former world number one Amelie Mauresmo.

Former world number one Justine Henin is still on the radar having accepted a wildcard into the Australian Open and is still to decide whether to play in Brisbane or Auckland.
