Assurances from Labtests

10/09/2009 13:24:01

New Auckland laboratory testing provider Labtests is assuring clinicians and patients concerns about its service are being dealt with.

It follows complaints from the Medical Association that the level of service is unacceptable in many respects, and has resulted in a number of patients not receiving appropriate care when they need it. They want the Health Minister to look at the situation.

Labtests CEO Ulf Lindskog says some clinicians have come forward with complaints around the call centre and the time it takes for people to receive results.

"We are monitoring those very, very carefully and we are tracking that on a half-hourly basis and I can say that we're making some serious improvements in the call rate."

Mr Lindskog says Labtests is working through the teething issues and no patients are being put at risk. He is pleased with how the transition is progressing.
