Lab battle continues as film crew hired

25/08/2009 13:00:01

The battle between two laboratory giants continues in Auckland.

Diagnostic Medlab has hired a camera crew and interviewed Labtests customers about the standard of the new provider's service.

DML chief executive Arthur Morris says the good rap Labtests was getting in the media differed from the public feedback they were receiving.

"So we decided to get direct quotes from people, so that if necessary they can be passed on to the DHBs, or perhaps local politicians so that they know exactly what's going on."

Dr Morris says people have complained about waiting times, as well as how they were treated.

"Now the money's been saved, or supposedly saved, this is the level of service that people are getting. And people need to realise the DHBs didn't buy the same service for a cheaper price - they've got a cheaper service."

Dr Morris says some people have come to Diagnostic Medlab willing to pay for their laboratory services, rather than wait in queues.
