Nine new players in Auckland squad

There are nine new players in the Auckland Air New Zealand Cup squad.

Ponsonby's Paul Williams has transferred from Canterbury, after playing for the Blues in the Super 14. Lock Andrew Van der Heijden has moved to Auckland from Counties-Manukau. First five Daniel Bowden has joined the province from Northland.

Other newcomers are Hamish Paterson, Teddy Stanaway, Dave Thomas and Atieli Pakalani.

Kurtis Haiu is the most experienced Auckland player on 49 caps, ahead of Taniela Moa and Jay Williams. The captain will be named later in the week.

Auckland complete their Air New Zealand Cup preparations against North Harbour on Thursday.
