Five golds for NZ at Switzerland regatta

13/07/2009 5:24:03

New Zealand rowing crews have produced another big medal haul, this time at the final world cup regatta in Switzerland.

Following Duncan Grant's win in the lightweight single yesterday, New Zealand has won another four gold medals on the last day of competition.

Mahe Drysdale has again asserted his dominance in the single scull as he led from the start, to beat all his main rivals ahead of next month's world champs in Poland. Rebecca Scown and Emma Feathery remain unbeaten on the world cup circuit this season after a one second victory in the women's pair, Hamish Bond and Eric Murray also continue to impress with a big winning margin in the men's pair and Storm Uru and Peter Taylor put in a scintillating sprint finish to win gold in the lightweight double.

Emma Twigg added to the medal haul with a silver in the women's single scull.
