Kiwis set to miss cut

21/06/2009 5:52:03

The three New Zealanders are set to miss the cut at golf's US Open at Bethpage Black.

American Ricky Barnes is the clubhouse leader on eight under par, a shot ahead of Lucas Glover, with Canadian Mike Weir on six under.

David Smail has finished on seven over, three shots outside the projected cut of plus four.

Rookie Doug Batty has carded a four over 74 to finish eight over.

He says the support from New Zealand has been incredible with all the text messages, emails and voice messages.

Michael Campbell is struggling at 12 over par.

With rain forecast organisers are unlikely to start the third round today.
