South Africa to play Pakistan in semis

17/06/2009 8:57:40

South African off-spinner Johan Botha took three wickets to lead his team to a 12-run Super Eights win over India, their fifth Twenty20 World Cup victory in a row.

The South Africans were already through to the semi-finals, and they denied India a consolation victory with another clinical performance, despite only scoring a modest 130 for five, with AB de Villiers making 63 from 51 balls.

They restricted India to 118 for eight thanks to excellent bowling from spinners Botha and Roelof van der Merwe.

India has lost all its Super Eights matches, having been beaten by the West Indies and England as well as the South Africans.

In Friday morning's semifinal, South Africa will play Pakistan at Trent Bridge.

Twenty four hours later, Sri Lanka and the West Indies meet at the Oval.

The final is on Monday morning (NZ time) at Lord's.
