Charges over girl's waterski death

20/04/2009 11:21:26

Police will be charging a Wellington man over the death of a nine-year-old girl who was run over after falling from her waterskis on Lake Taupo.

Detective Senior Sergeant Todd Pearce says it follows a lengthy investigation and advice from Rotorua's Crown Solicitor.

Nine-year-old Genevieve Lewis died following the accident in January.

The driver of the boat involved has been charged under the Maritime Transport Act, under a clause relating to dangerous activity causing unnecessary danger to others. He is due in court tomorrow.
