Flash flooding claims a life in NSW

More flooding woes across the Tasman.

Flood warnings have been issued for Queensland from Rockhampton down to the Gold Coast while rain continues to fall.

Emergency workers have spent the night sandbagging homes and businesses on the Sunshine Coast. They also had to rescue several motorists who got into trouble trying to cross flooded roads.

Gympie Police Officer Pat Armstrong says five English tourists had to be rescued after their car got stuck between two flooded creeks.

Meanwhile a woman has lost her life in flash flooding in south west New South Wales. The victim driving across causeway between Coolah and Gundagai when her car was swept into floodwaters. Her passenger managed to escape. Emergency crews found the woman's body downstream.

Yesterday, a 12-year-old girl was swept away while playing near a flooded culvert and the search for her is continuing.
