Rex Haig denied compensation

19/02/2009 14:12:04

Rex Haig - NZ Herald

Rex Haig will not receive any compensation.

In 2006 the Court of Appeal quashed a murder conviction imposed on Mr Haig in 1995 for the killing of Mark Roderique, a crew member on his fishing boat.

As a response, Mr Haig has sought compensation for the 10 years he served in jail.

Justice Minister Simon Power has been considering a report into the claim, but compensation has not been granted.
