Willis has shredded shins after tough race

15/09/2008 13:40:05

Nick Willis was so cut up in his 1500 metres race at the World Athletics Final in Stuttgart, he has sought medical help.

Willis finished third in a time of three minutes 38.22, just 0.3 of a second behind the winner but he has got some shredded shins to show for it.

He says it is the worst he has ever been cut up by spikes after a race and he had to head to the Red Cross tent as a result of all the pushing and shoving on the track.

Willis only flew across to Germany in the last couple of days to boost his ranking into the top five in the athlete's key form guide, "Track and Field News".

He now races the Fifth Avenue Mile in New York to end his season.
