Charge backs possible for ticket scam victims

04/08/2008 14:24:20

There is some reassurance for people caught up in the Olympic ticketing scam.

The International Olympic Committee has received complaints worldwide from people saying they have been duped into paying for bogus tickets, through websites such as www.beijingticketing.com.

Consumer New Zealand advisor Paul Doocey says any New Zealanders who have been ripped off should have a good chance of getting their money back.

"I'd say that people who paid by credit card, which presumably should include most people with a web-based scam, should go to their issuing bank and see if they can have a charge back made to their account."

Mr Doocey says most banks will offer charge backs if consumers are ripped off online.
