New tenant for Vogel House

23/05/2008 8:20:01

The Governor General will be making his home in Lower Hutt for the next three years while Government House in Wellington undergoes extensive renovations.

The announcement Anand Satyanand and his wife Susan will move to Vogel House was made in yesterday's budget.

Mayor David Ogden says it will be a special honour having the couple live in Lower Hutt. Vogel House was designed in 1933 and was the official residence of former prime minister Sir Robert Muldoon and for a short time David Lange.

More recently, it has been the home of Progressive Party leader Jim Anderton and his wife.
