PM doesn't recall texting in Queen's speech

29/11/2007 10:24:02

The Prime Minister says she has no recollection of texting during a speech by the Queen.

Britain's Daily Express newspaper has criticised Helen Clark for texting during the Queen's opening address to the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Uganda. It says her actions showed diminishing respect for the Crown.

But Miss Clark's spokespeople say it did not happen.

British newspapers were also quick to criticise five years ago, when Helen Clark wore trousers instead of a gown at a state banquet for the Queen in New Zealand.
