New vision, new plan for Fouhy

15/03/2007 8:32:03

Ben Fouhy has a sleek new kayak design to see him through the 2007 season - it is the "Vajda Supersonic 202".

Fouhy says fortunately his sponsors front up with a fresh vessel at every port of call which helps logistically because it is not easy putting a 5.2 metre kayak on an airline.

There has been a change in Fouhy's ports of call. He has now added the third World Cup regatta in France ahead of the World Championships rather than going to the first in Croatia because it is more in line with his 2008 Olympic schedule.

Fouhy has just had Lasik surgery on his eyes, which has improved his posture. It means he now does not have to extend as far to see his boat's on-board computer, which was bad for his paddling technique. He says he can now have all four displays up, monitoring his speed, his time, his distance and his heart-rate.

The surgery has removed the chance of a contact lens malfunctioning as it did at the world championships last year.
