All Whites to face Wales in Wrexham on May 27

27/02/2007 15:32:04

Another opportunity for All Whites players to face some of international football's big names.

New Zealand played Brazil in the build up to last year's World Cup and they will now get to take on the likes of Ryan Giggs and Craig Bellamy with Wales agreeing to a match against the All Whites at Wrexham on May 27.

It is the first time the All Whites have played Wales outside New Zealand, with their previous clash a non-capped 1-nil win to Wales here in 1971.

All Whites coach Ricki Herbert says it is a great opportunity for his players to test their skills against some of the world's best. He says it will also provide good preparation for his side ahead of the Oceania World Cup qualifiers at the end of the year.

Wales will use the fixture as a build up to the Euro 2008 Group D qualifier against the Czech Republic the following week.

Ricki Herbert says there might be more games to come. He says there is the potential of having three matches in that window and New Zealand Soccer is working hard to confirm another two opponents for the All Whites.
