Casey wins World Matchplay Championship

18/09/2006 7:32:03

England's Paul Casey has won the World Matchplay Golf Championships at Wentworth, and he has won it by a record margin.

In the best of 36 hole final, Casey cruised to a 10 & 8 victory over American Shaun Micheel to claim the three million dollar first prize.

He says there is something very cool about taking home the biggest cheque in golf, although it is more about getting his name on the trophy rather than the money.

Casey tops the European Order of Merit with his third win of the year and is in top form heading into the Ryder Cup this week in Ireland.
