Electric trains on line by 2012

13/09/2006 11:16:02

Auckland's regional authorities have outlined a plan to have the first electric train service running by 2012 at the latest.

Trains will run every 10 minutes during peak times and the fleet will be expanded from 22 to 40.

Auckland Regional Transport Authority chairman Brian Roche says the demand for better and increased services is clear. He says ARTA is working with the Government to secure the extra funding it needs for the plan.
