Steve Irwin is dead

It is being reported by Queensland state authorities that Australian TV personality , Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin, has been killed in a marine accident in the north of Queensland.

It is understood Mr Irwin was killed by a stingray barb that went through his chest while swimming off the Low Isles at Port Douglas.

Irwin was filming an underwater documentary.

Ambulance officers have confirmed they attended a fatality.
