The only survivor of the deadly live TV shooting in Virginia has spoken of her ordeal to family.

Vicki Gardner was being interviewed by Alison Parker and filmed by cameraman Adam Ward when they where shot by a gunman earlier this week.

Vicki's husband Tim said she has come out of her medically induced coma.

"He shot three times at my wife, and she was trying to dodge everything. He missed twice and then she dove to the ground. The surgeon told me that a couple of centermetres and she wouldn't be walking, she wouldn't be alive."

Former co-worker and TV reporter Vester Lee Flanagan fired the fatal shots.

Former colleagues said he was abusive to them.

He shot himself dead after killing Gardner and Parker.
