UPDATED 6.17am: Donald Trump won't be going after Hillary Clinton over her use of private emails.

It's a big departure from a major campaign promise.

He said in the second presidential debate that he'd make the Attorney General get a special prosecutor if he won the election.

Trump even joked about Clinton being imprisoned during one of the Presidential debates.

The FBI investigated the allegations against Ms Clinton, and decided to not press charges.

FBI director James Comey threw a bombshell into the campaign by reopening the investigation less that two weeks before the election, but closed the investigation again after finding there was no reason to alter the original conclusion.

Mr Trump's former campaign manager Kellyanne Conway has told CNN she thinks "Hillary Clinton still has to face the fact that a majority of Americans still don't find her honest or trustworthy, but if Donald Trump can help her heal then perhaps that's a good thing."

US correspondent Jennifer Strong told Rachel Smalley it's the latest in a string of u-turns by the President-elect.

She said that Trump said he has no intention of pursuing charges against her - and he's not going to seek further investigation of her emails, nor the Clinton Foundation.
