A 23-year-old woman born in Upper Hutt has died in Thailand.

British media is reporting Christina Annesley was found dead on Koh Tao island a week ago.

Messages of support on her Facebook page suggest Ms Annesley was suffering a chest infection that she'd taken antibiotics for.

A death notice in the Christchurch Press says Ms Annesley has spent most of her life in London, and was the only daughter of Boyne and Maggie Orpington.

The family members of the 23-year-old who has died in Thailand are appealing to the public for help to get them to her funeral.

Christina Annesley was found dead in a bungalow last Wednesday after reportedly taking antibiotics for a chest infection.

Though her parents live in Kent in England, much of the New Zealand-born woman's family still live here.

A Givealittle campaign has been established to help fly Ms Annesley's brother Aaron and his daughter Piper-Jean to the UK for her funeral.
