The Australian government is again being slammed for it's treatment of Kiwi detainees after allegations that a Kiwi man being detained on Christmas Island is being refused medical treatment.

Bruce Haskell was taken to the island last year after breaching parole conditions.

Oz Kiwi media liason Joanne Cox explained the situation.

"July last year he was diagnosed with a brain tumor or cysts on the brain and over the course of the last year he has requested medical treatment four times but has not actually received any help."

Cox said even prisoners have the right to health care and is calling on the New Zealand public to put pressure on the government so they're forced to address the treatment of Kiwis in Australian detention.

"The New Zealand public they need to speak to their MP's to put pressure on to the National government to actually put pressure on the Australian government to treat New Zealanders humanely."

She believes the New Zealand government needs to step in and stand up for the rights of it's citizens

"It doesn't seem very satisfactory at all that people don't receive the medical help they need, they are being denied human rights."
