Australia's rolled out the red carpet for John Key, and the ANZAC tradition.

The Prime Minister has met his opposite number in Perth ahead of today's World War One commemorations.

In his welcoming speech, Tony Abbott said Australia and New Zealand go ahead as brother countries.

"We have many challenges today and tomorrow just as we had challenges 100 years ago.

"But Australia and New Zealand as always face the future together."
