The Marshall Islands is experiencing its worst-ever coral bleaching as rising temperatures threaten reefs across the entire northern Pacific.
Marine researchers say an El Nino weather pattern has developed in recent months, raising ocean temperatures and stressing delicate coral reefs.
They say coral bleaching is a naturally occurring phenomenon but not on the scale currently being seen.
