A respected Canadian newspaper that made a link between the vaccine Gardasil and health consequences has been forced into a back-track.
The Toronto Star's publisher has now said the story is wrong - and there's no scientific medical evidence of any 'dark side' of the vaccine.
The drug immunises against the dangerous human papillomavirus, that can lead to cervical cancer - in New Zealand it's offered to Year eight girls.
However a group of 65 Canadian law and immunology experts have signed a letter saying the misleading article could have serious consequences.
It brings to mind the false science over a suggested link between vaccines and autism, which continues to persuade anxious parents today when they take to the internet to do their research.
