The Queen and British prime minister David Cameron joined a full house at Westminster Abbey to mark the Anzac centenary in London.
The Westminster service followed dawn ceremonies in London and several other world centres attended by tens of thousands of people.
Te Tai Tokerau Bishop Te Kitohi Pikaahu says Australians, New Zealanders and Turks of many faiths came together.
"The service was focusing on the past - making sure we never repeat the mistakes of the past, particularly the war."
This year's service marked the milestone for an Anzac tradition.
King George V and Queen Mary attended a service on the first Anzac Day in 1916.
Te Kitohi Pikaahu says today's service was attended by a wide range of people, but was still steeped in tradition.
"Westminster Abbey is a place where the ceremonies of the church are at their best."
