Britain is set to take in a further 4000 Syrians from refugee camps in the Middle East.

That's on top of 5000 Syrians already welcomed into the United Kingdom.

Prime Minister David Cameron said their approach is to take refugees from refugee camps.

"This provides them with a more direct and safe route to the United Kingdom rather than risking the hazardous journey, which has tragically cost so many of their lives."

He said the United Kingdom will also continue to work with partners to tackle the conflict in Syria, provide support to the region, and go after the smuggling gangs exploiting people fleeing the conflict.
