Five people are in custody after an apparent failed bombing attempt in a chic Paris neighbourhood.
Police said an explosive device was found and deactivated in the 16th arrondissement.
France's interior minister Gerard Collomb said the discovery of the device in western Paris highlighted that France was as much as ever at risk of terrorist attacks.
"(Police) services are investigating," Collomb told public radio station France Inter. "What I can tell you is that among the people who were arrested, one was ... radicalised."
Police say a neighbour alerted authorities to suspicious activity early on Saturday.
The incident came the same weekend as a deadly stabbing in Marseille by a man who used multiple aliases. His motives are unclear, though it was claimed by the Islamic State group.
France's parliament is expected to approve a new counter-terrorism law on Tuesday.
