Updated 1:35pm: The army has been called in to help clean up after the storm which battered Brisbane last night.
Much of the damage was caused by golf-ball sized hailstones which smashed windows on high rise buildings - and damaged cars.
The Queensland premier says the supercell storm injured 39 people, and 12 were taken to hospital.
Campbell Newman says he's grateful none of them were seriously injured.
The government estimates the final damage bill could top 100 million dollars.
