UPDATED 12.30pm

Authorities in Bermuda are extending their condolences to the family of a New Zealand woman who was killed in a boat crash there.

The crash involving three boats happened on Thursday night local time in Hamilton Harbour.

A 62-year-old Kiwi woman Mary Elizabeth McKee has died and her 69-year-old husband was badly injured when they were thrown out of a Zodiac dinghy.

A 26-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of operating a vessel while impaired.

Minister of National Security Jeff Baron described it as a sad and tragic event and is hoping for a swift recovery of those injured.

He says public safety of everyone attending the various events across Bermuda is of paramount concern for security services personnel.

He is encouraging care and caution during this very busy time.
