UPDATED 11.20AM:Â French media is reporting Ali Williams has been released from custody after being charged.
News agency AFP is reporting the former All Black is charged with buying cocaine after his weekend arrest.
He, and former Wallaby James O'Connor, were both arrested after allegedly handing over about $200 cash to a drug dealer.
It said Williams has accepted the charge and will appear in court at another date.
O'Connor is reportedly facing a lesser charge of possession.
AFP is reporting there are suggestions Williams bought the drugs but tested negative.
O'Connor is said to have tested positive, but was not involved in the purchase.
A judicial source says both players were drunk at the time of their arrest, and were not carrying identification papers.
Williams' club, Racing 92, has suspended him until further details come to light.
