A full calendar of events in Wellington is being touted as one reason behind poor ticket sales for next weekend's rugby sevens in the capital.
Just over a week out from the event - only 16-thousand tickets have been sold, less than half of Westpac Stadium's capacity.
Wellington Sevens general manager Steve Dunbar says there's no one reason why popularity for the event has dropped off.
"There was some bad publicity after the event last year
"At the end of the day there's only so much discretionary dollar that can go around all of the events."
Dunbar says a lot of work is going into getting more people along next weekend.
