There is a last-minute push to save Wellington's trolley buses.
Power to the trolley network is set to be shut off tomorrow night, marking the end of an era for transport in the capital.
Electric diesel buses will run in their place from Wednesday.
However, a new government could mean a last minute rescue for the beloved buses.
Greater Wellington regional councillor Sue Kedgley said she'll address the transport committee tomorrow, asking for the plan to be put on hold.
She says she's not alone in wanting to find out what the new government thinks of the move.
"A number of councillors are very concerned that before any final decision is taken we should consult with the new government and clarify what the government's position is."
She believes the change of government could mean a change of plans.
"NZ First and the Green Party both had policies they both wanted the trolley buses to continue and also a very strong side of the new coalition government to climate change and reducing our emissions."
