Wellington's Mayor Celia Wade-Brown, reports the majority of those who came last time, were from outside the city which all contributed to the local economy.
She admits the council have made a contribution out of their events fund, but wasn't willing to say how much.
"I cannot say exactly how much or I won't say how much of the event fund goes into individual events because I've got to get the best deal for ratepayers that I can."
When the Tattoo was last in Wellington in 2000, it injected $14 million into the local economy, and is still the biggest non-sporting event to be held at the Stadium.
Wade-Brown believes the event will be fantastic for the city.
"This is huge, when it was last in Wellington over three quarters were from outside the city, so it's great for the economy."
