Celebrations as the largest methamphetamine syndicate in the Wellington region is dismantled.

Six people have been arrested, while guns, stolen property hundreds of thousands of dollars and $1.8 million worth of assets have been seized.

A four month investigation came to a head yesterday, as 150 police staff carried out search warrants across Wellington and Auckland.

Detective Inspector Mike Arnerich said his team has done an extraordinary job.

"We're pleased the most for the community because this is [a] significant result for the community having this syndicate taken out of action."

Porirua Mayor Mike Tana agrees.

"It does look like the police in this case have uncovered something that's big enough to cause huge amounts of harm in Porirua, we don't want it here."
