The Northland Regional Council's decision to review funding for a local air ambulance, could put the service in jeopardy.
The council is proposing that the current targeted rate of $600,000 in annual funding to the Northland Emergency Services Trust be amended to a new fund which will be open to all emergency services on a contestable basis.
But the trust's chairman, Paul Ahlers is worried that means their service will lose out.
He says they're already running on a tight budget and any reduction in funding will be harmful.
The council is seeking submissions to the proposed changes and submissions close on April 24.
