It's hoped an increase in house sales in Northland will boost the region's economy.
Residential sales in Northland last month increased by 11.8 percent compared with March last year.
Whangarei Barfoot and Thompson branch manager, Martin Dear says a number of Aucklanders are investing in property in Northland because it's more affordable.
He says it's not just the property market that will benefit.
"I think overall there's going to be more people around and more people spending.
"There'll be people coming in from other centres that perhaps may be investing into the market and more retail sales."
