A man and his three sons have been found safe after they failed to return from a pig hunting trip in the Far North.
Police and LANDSAR teams were searching a 16km sq area and found the family just after 10.30am on Monday.
When they failed to return on time, family members began searching yesterday before alerting police late last night.Â
Police say the experienced hunter and his three boys, aged 10, 11, and 13, were reported missing at 11pm on Sunday.
Fortunately, weather conditions have been good, and the family were found shortly before 11am.
Local hunters, who were part of the LANDSAR team, located the family who are in good condition and now at home, says Senior Sergeant Dave Metcalf.
Rescue teams had been searching the area around Tawata Road at Kaikohe.
