Police are hoping for another well behaved spectator performance at tomorrow's Rugby League World Cup game in Hamilton.

The Kiwis are taking on Tonga at FMG Stadium, a match fans wanted after a number of Kiwis players turned their back on the black jersey to play for Tonga.

National police manager for the RLWC Superintendent Sandra Manderson said that, just like with last weekend's game between Tonga and Samoa, they will have a heightened police presence and expect good behaviour.

"An ideal result would be for people to go there and enjoy themselves, that there be no arrest, and that people behave properly on the road as well."

There will likely be another raucous crowd watching the game, which Manderson said due to the extra police presence.

It's the driving afterwards while celebrating that Manderson is more concerned about.

"We have had incidents where people have been driving on top of the vehicles, putting their children outside the vehicles. It's just not on. We just don't behave like that here and we've got to make sure that people are safe."

The Hamilton City Council are hoping for the best behaviour from the crowd as well.

Council Major Events Director Chad Hooker said they are ready to be the perfect hosts again.

He said it was an amazing event last weekend and the council want people to come along with that same attitude tomorrow.

"We're not overly worried but we do expect people to come along and respect the occasion, respect the teams and the people that are working at the venue, along as their fellow spectators."

Crowd behaviour could play a big part as to whether or not Hamilton has the opportunity to host other major events, as Hooker said they act as examples for other promoters.

"It helps for us when we have other promoters or event organisers that see how well we can deliver events, it makes us easier for us talking to them in the future about the opportunity to host their events in Hamilton."
