Five people were still in the running for $5m in TAB's Free Kick competition this morning after correctly picking the first nine group game results at the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

That was until Mexico upset Germany 1-0.

All 45,590 entrants who were in the running to win $5m if they correctly picked the result of the tournaments 64 matches have now been eliminated.

Only nine people made it through the weekend but four entrants were eliminated earlier this morning when Serbia beat Costa Rica 1-0.

The five remaining entrants all picked Germany to win their opening group game - a fair assumption since the defending champions had outscored their opponents 20-2 in the last four World Cup openers.

However Hirving Lozano scored the winner in the 35th minute as Germany became the third defending champions in the last four tournaments to lose their opening game. It was Germany's first defeat at a World Cup since losing to Spain in the 2010 semifinals.
