One-Test All Black Charlie Ngatai has confirmed he will leave for club rugby in France at the end of the Super Rugby season.

Chiefs midfield back Ngatai told journalists the coming season will be his last in New Zealand but wouldn't identify which club he will be contracted to, with the final details still to be clarified.

The 27-year-old played his lone Test off the bench against Samoa in 2015 and has been a regular selection, when fit, for the Maori All Blacks since his 2012 debut.

He was regarded as a regular Test contender before suffering a concussion which sidelined him for a year.

Ngatai admits that the concussion issue he battled for over a year, and young players emerging into the All Blacks in the midfield were some of the factors that contributed to his decision.

He said he had considered retirement before making a return in May last year.

A standout age group player, Ngatai played his early Super Rugby for the Hurricanes and has represented Wellington and Taranaki at NPC level.
