Tom Blundell expects international competition to bring the best out of him during New Zealand A's cricket tour of India.
He's one of three wicket-keepers in the squad, along with Northern Districts' Tim Seifert and Auckland's Glenn Phillips.
Both Blundell and Phillips played Twenty20 matches for New Zealand last summer.
Blundell says competing with Seifert and Phillips will keep him on his toes.
"Both of them are really good players so it's great for New Zealand cricket and it's great for me to keep pushing myself, so that hopefully one of us gets a go sometime down the track."
New Zealand A fly to India today, with their first match beginning on Saturday.
